Crystal Visions Tarot Deck Review

I purchased the Crystal Visions Tarot deck by Jennifer Galasso back in February and have spent my sweet time getting to know it. Crystal Visions has enchanting images and uses color in a really wonderful way! So far I have only been drawn to use this deck for my personal studies, journaling and meditation. However, I do think this would be a great deck to use with clients that are new to tarot or overly superstitious. It has gentle images and a kind energy so far as I can tell. While this deck follows the typical RWS structure, I find that it does have varying symbols and added themes which makes it a bit more fun and unique to read, but could be confusing for someone just getting started. The little white book that comes with the deck is infinitely helpful for getting to know this deck.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

* I was immediately in love with the backing image. It is a very attractive, and does not give away that the card is upright or reversed (a personal pet peeve), it reminds me of gazing into a crystal ball and the colors are gorgeous!

* At first I wasn't sure I would like how light and gentle the theme of the deck was, I like cards that shock the psyche a bit and really tell you how it is, but deck has grown on me and become one of my staple decks.

* I was really drawn to the suit of pentacles in this deck even more so than the wands which are usually my favorite suit.

* I had no idea there was an Unknown Card in this deck prior to purchase. I didn't know how I felt about it at first but now I'm on board! Its fun when it comes up and its a good reminder that there are always things that we don't know.

* I really like that many of the cards that traditionally depict men, are instead strong females! (The Chariot, The Fool and The Hermit)

LIKES:

* The imagery and imagination put into this deck are inspiring.

* It seems very friendly, open and easy to learn and work with.

*   Very in tune with nature, lots of animals and beautiful scenery depicted along with the lovely people.

* Creative and gentle approach to some of the harsher cards like Death, The Devil and The Tower Card.

* For some reason I have really come to like working with the court cards of this deck even though they are not like the traditional images.

DISLIKES:

* Some of the images don't speak the meanings I'm used to, which is great creatively, but makes reading a bit harder.

* I feel like all of the people in this deck are wearing the exact same facial expression. It is hard to read their emotions and they sometimes do not line up with emotions I have grown used to seeing in tradition RWS decks.

* The cards themselves are a bit slippery and hard to keep in place when reading, not sure if that is because they are so new, but they seem to be very high gloss which I'm not sure I'm a big fan of.

* Within the first week of using the cards my cardboard box for this deck started tearing and falling apart, so much that I had to make it a cloth case.

*For some reason I do not like The Lovers card of this deck. It is too restricting and love relationship based, nothing in the imagery remotely reminds me of having to make choices.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase of the Crystal Visions Tarot and will continue to get to know it and work with it in my daily life! Hope this was helpful and if it wasn't, well at least the pictures are pretty!

Fire and The Suit of Wands

Fire has two faces, it can be a motivating asset or it can be total destruction. Fire is a combustible element created by action, in the tarot it’s a metaphor for the consequences that come from our decisions. Fire is most beneficial when it is controlled, but it has a mind of its own and must be used with care. Fire is beautiful when it inspires us to higher levels of passion, creativity and is the fuel for ambition. But this element can have a dark side making one quick to anger and prone to having explosive relationships. Fire can change its course in a moments notice and loves adventure. If you are with a Fire sign don’t expect to keep them cooped up at home all the time. Being the most mystical element it senses the world through intuition and instinct, those fueled by fire are more willing to take risks than other elements. Fire doesn't think, it acts. Fire shines naturally and gives those associated with it a strong sense of self.

Fire is also connected to the Sun, Mars and Jupiter. The Sun is our self, ego and personality; this is everything inside of you and what you project to the world. Mars represents passion, ambition and drive which explains the extroverted and hard working characteristics of Fire signs. Expansion, adventure and travel all fall under Jupiter’s domain. Fire embodies all of this in the nature of a Fire sign to roam and expand its domain. Fire is spirit. It is what we are all made of at our core.

Suit of Wands:

Wands are associated with the Element Fire and represent the qualities and personality traits of the three fire signs in the zodiac: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Keywords: Action/Vitality

This suit is short tempered and ready to rumble! Wands are passionate, active and impatient. Conflicts and physical challenges bring the suit of wands to life! Wands can be very focused and hard working, but they like to see results. If they don’t, they are likely to pursue something else. Wands people would rather die on their feet than live life on their knees. Wands people are not made to sit at a desk all day unless you’re inducing them into a depression. Wand energy is forthright, assertive and unafraid of conflict. This suit is very transparent in the sense of what you see is what you get.

Tarot Tuesday - Queen of Cups

The Queen of Cups

The Queen of hearts is a wildly emotional lady! Family and friends are very important to her and she loves to take care of the ones she loves. This Queen has one of the biggest hearts around and can be quite sensitive so be careful with your approach. When she gets upset she can hold a grudge for a very long time. This Queen prefers thoughtful gifts over expensive items every time. She is very intuitive and knows when someone is lying to her even if she doesn't call them out right away. She can sometimes fall into a depression because she feels the weight of the world and all its problems on an emotional level. The Queen of Cups can be wishy washy if she isn't sure what she wants to do, but she is a great leader who really cares about the people she rules! Embody the Queen of Cups by sending a sweet note to someone you love and haven't talked to or by donating to a foundation that touches your heart!

Happy Tuesday!

Tarot Tuesdays - Nine of Pentacles

This week I have a special treat for you! I decided to make my own 9 of Pentacles card instead of using a pic from an already existing deck. Hope you enjoy!!

The Nine of Pentacles is about being completely self-sufficient. You sought after your dreams and are well on your way to fulfilling them. This is a card of ample resources, success and accomplishments. Basically what this card is saying is pat yourself on the back, you deserve it! This is a card about enjoying life's pleasures and living in the moment of an upward cycle.
